Sunderland boss Paolo di Canio has been warned against making too many changes too soon.
The Italian has brought in seven new faces to liven up the under-performing squad he inherited from Martin O'Neill when he took charge in March.
Former Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn, who brought Keane to the Stadium of Light, said: "Paolo is making massive changes, not unlike what Roy did.
"That worked for Roy. It helped get us up from the bottom of the Championship, get us promoted and helped keep us there.
"But it had gone wrong by the end and Paolo has to look to avoid that."
