Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn is planning no rushed summer signings in the final weeks of the summer market.

After drawing Tottenham in the opening round of the new season, Quinn said: "The Spurs one is very glamorous, a great team, and a game that will really make us feel we're back in the Premier League with such a glamorous club coming to play us at our stadium."

He continued: "Everyone knows we'd like to get off to a good start. With the run after Christmas last season, we'd love to carry on and keep that winning feeling.

"My hope is that by that point when the season starts, Roy Keane will be very happy and we've managed to sign the players he wants."
