Carlos Queiroz is assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, and since he was made favourite for the Portugal role following Luiz Felipe Scolari's resignation to take over at Chelsea, Queiro has had a tough choice to make.
The Portuguese media appear to be saying he has now made that choice, and will be leaving Old Trafford to coach Portugal.
According to reports, ongoing talks are now almost complete, with Queiroz expected to sign a four-year contract.
That would see him master-minding Portugal's qualification for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa and Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.
