Queensland Roar has midfield aim

Queensland Roar coach Frank Farina is toying with the idea of bolstering his midfield for tomorrow night's clash with the Central Coast Mariners. Four midfielders could be deployed by the former Socceroos coach as his club strives to entrench themselves in the top four.

A win would see the Roar jump to within a point of top spot and make a gap of three points between them and teams out of the four provided Wellington Phoenix loses to Adelaide United tonight.

Farina believes that the Mariners are a physical side so he needs to pack bodies in the midfield to counter that aggression.

"It's an option for us," Farina said.

"We'll be comfortable with that style of play, particularly in the midfield.

"That's where the game's either going to be won or lost and I think the more bodies we have in there, the better chance we're going to have of getting on top.

"I think having Danny (Tiatto), Massimo (Murdocca), Matt (McKay) and Charlie (Miller) in the midfield area is a huge benefit because they play with three in there.

"At any given stage we're always going to have a free man, whether that's Charlie or Danny."

The Roar are unlikely to make any changes from the side that drew in Sydney last week whilst the Mariners welcome back defender Pedj Bojic from suspension along with the promoted David D'Apuzzo and Andrew Clark as Nigel Boogaard takes a forced break after receiving a red card last week.

Queensland Roar takes on the Central Coast Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium on Saturday December 6.
