Quebec City Mayor Regis Labeaume is of the belief that the capital of Canadian province Quebec is ready for a professional soccer team.

Labeaume suggested to Canadian French-language paper La Presse that he wants to bring a team to Quebec City to begin competing in either the North American Soccer League or to join Montreal Impact as a MLS reserve team.

A translated excerpt read: "At some point, we will be made here. I'm starting to think quietly.

"One of the steps, it may be that. The soccer field we have here is perhaps the next end. The question, if we are able to support a team.”

Labeaume added: "It is not my priority, but at some point we will begin to think about it. Find a league of our measure.”
