QPR's Ramsey buoyant despite Chelsea loss

QPR boss Chris Ramsey has refused to throw in the towel in his side's relegation battle after the 1-0 loss to Chelsea.

The R's, placed 18th on the Premier League table, gave a good account of themselves against the league leaders before the 88th minute winner from Cesc Fabregas condemned the West Londoners to their sixth consecutive home defeat.

After the match, Ramsey told Sky Sports that the performance against quality opposition was decent but admits his side's form, especially at Loftus Road, has to pick up if they want to remain in England's top flight.

"I was very pleased with the way the players applied themselves. The team stuck to the game plan well. The approach was to do what we do best," he told Sky Sports.

"We understand they have players of high level but we showed we could compete with them, albeit for 87 minutes.

"The players don't need lifting, they know what's required now they will lift themselves, we haven't been embarrassed or outplayed.

"We need to turn the place back into a fortress."
