Joey Barton is prepared to play for a reduced wage as long as it is with Everton.
The QPR midfielder is determined to remain in the Premier League and would love to do so with boyhood club Everton after the R's dropped to the Championshio.
Reports suggest 30-year old Barton, who spent last season on loan with French club Marseille, has contacted new Toffees boss Roberto Martinez to ask if the Merseyside club will take him on a 50% pay-cut which would see him paid £35,000-a-week.
