QPR are expected to rival Newcastle United for West Ham United defender James Tomkins.

Newcastle have had a £2.5million bid for the 22-year-old rejected as Alan Pardew looks to bolster his injury hit back four and Tomkins is believed to be on United's radar.

Ex-Toon boss Sam Allardyce is keen to keep Tomkins as he looks to take the Hammers back to the Premier League.

Tomkins will continue talks on a new deal but Queens Park Rangers are also keen on the player.
