QPR veteran Derry sorry for Warnock demise

QPR veteran midfielder Shaun Derry was sorry to see Neil Warnock sacked.

Derry expressed sympathy to axed managed Warnock, who brought him to W12, but believes Mark Hughes is the right man to keep them in the Premier League.

"I have been at clubs where it has happened before and it's always sad to see a manager go," he told the Fulham Chronicle.

"The Premier League is such a brutal place. The amount of the money the owners have put into the club for new players and wages means it's vital we stay in this division.

"Mark Hughes has got great calibre and his record speaks for itself. There's been a phenomenal reaction [to his appointment]."
