QPR veteran Derry keen to help new teammates settle

QPR midfielder Shaun Derry says they'll do everything to help their new signings bed down quickly.

The 33-year-old Loftus Road star welcomes Joey Barton, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Anton Ferdinand amongst others to the team.

He told talkSPORT: "I think it's key that we all spend some time together, quality time as well. When you're going into training everyday you do sit next to the same people, you talk to the same people and you socialise with the same people day in, day out.

"What we've got to do is get away from the working environment and spend some quality time together, whether that be a meal or a game of golf or whatever.

"We make sure that does happen, not as regularly as it perhaps did five, six or seven years ago and I think sometimes you do need to spend that time together away from the football.

"We've found that especially within the last few years playing with foreign boys more that you've got to integrate them into what they want. You can't go and sit in a boozer all day long and put the jukebox on."
