QPR still hoping to lure Marseille's Remy

QPR are still hoping to win the race to sign Loic Remy despite reports suggesting he is on the verge of joining Newcastle United.

Marseille have given the French striker permission to speak with the Magpies but R's boss Harry Redknapp still feels he can persuade a move to Loftus Road according to Sky Sports.

Redknapp unsuccessfully tracked Remy when he was manager at Tottenham but there have been recent murmurings that he has not yet committed to an £8.3million move to Newcastle with West London still a slight possibility.
