QPR manager Harry Redknapp is of the belief that Rio Ferdinand can have an outstanding career in football administration when his playing days are over.
The 35-year old centre-back, who joined the R's in the summer after leaving Manchester United at the end of last season, is being tipped to move into a high administrative role by his current boss who feels he has a fantastic knowledge of the world game as a whole.
In response to rumours suggesting former England international Ferdinand could be appointed to FIFA's Executive Committee, Redknapp said: "He could be another Michel Platini [UEFA president] - that'd be nice for him and why not?
"He's a bright boy and a lovely guy - an absolute class act on and off the field - he's smart and a top boy.
"We need more people like him running the game. He's got great knowledge of the game and is a great role model. He's come out of a working class area in south London area and he's made it.
"I've known him since he was 14 and he's a fantastic boy and he hasn't changed a bit as a person, he's just got a bit more experience now but as a person he's top class."
At the moment, however, Ferdinand will have his mind solely focused on QPR's meeting with second-placed Southampton at St Mary's Stadium on Saturday.
The veteran defender has started all five league outings for the 18th-placed R's since arriving at Loftus Road.
