QPR's Redknapp backs Hughes: 'He's doing an excellent job at Stoke'

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has complimented Stoke City counterpart ahead of this weekend's clash between the two clubs.

Potters boss Hughes endured a tough spell as R's manager between January and November in 2012 before being replaced by Redknapp.

As the two clubs get set to battle at Loftus Road on Saturday, Redknapp spoke of Hughes' tenure in west London but was quick to deny that the Welshman had done anything wrong after taking over from Neil Warnock at the start of 2012.

"That wouldn't all be down to Mark. That happens," said Redknapp of the failed tenure of Hughes.

"There were players here he probably inherited and some came in. You never get a perfect group and it was a difficult time for him.

"He's gone to Stoke now and he's doing an excellent job at Stoke like he's done at most clubs he's been at. People have always got their own opinions about everyone and you can't please everyone all the time."

Redknapp's QPR currently sits 16th on the Premier League table with one win and three losses from their first four outings while Hughes' Stoke are two places ahead on one win, one draw and two defeats.
