QPR's Phillips has eyes on Liverpool after friendly brace

QPR winger Matt Phillips has his eyes firmly set on Liverpool this weekend after starring in a friendly on Friday.

The 23-year old former Blackpool man netted twice as the R's defeated Wolves 2-0 and admits it was a great confidence booster going into Sunday's home clash with the Reds when the Premier League returns from the international break.

"You're going to get more out of a game than training, so it was good to play Wolves," Phillips told the club's official website.

"We had a good side out and I thought we played well. All the boys really put it in, and it's always nice to win.

"Those games can be very useful, especially for myself. Confidence-wise, to play 90 minutes and score two goals, it's always going to help you."

Phillips, who joined the R's last summer, has featured six times for Harry Redknapp in the league this season and is planning to become a much more influential player for the west London club as the season progresses.

"I'm my own biggest critic, and I've been critical of myself over a couple of bad performances, and when that happens you're always looking to the next game to put it right," he added.

"That opportunity came in last week's friendly, and hopefully the two goals have given the manager something to think about."
