QPR's Nelsen accepts Toronto FC coaching job

QPR defender Ryan Nelsen has accepted the role as head coach of MLS club Toronto FC.

The New Zealand national team captain has been appointed to replace former Arsenal and England striker Paul Mariner who was sacked earlier this week but will remain as a Loftus Road player for the next little while.

"I am under contract at QPR," the 35-year old said at a press conference.

"Harry Redknapp and Tony Fernandes, the owner of QPR, are fantastic people. They are such nice people.

"I've got some obligations at QPR that we have just got to go through.

"It has been a bit of whirlwind so there are some details we have to go through."
