QPR's clash with Arsenal 'governs our futures' says Barton

QPR captain Joey Barton feels Saturday's home meeting with Arsenal could define the futures of a lot of the clubs players.

The R's sit 18th on the table and at least need a point as Bolton, just above them, take on bottom-placed Wolves.

Both results could have a massive affect on QPR's standing but Barton knows he can only influence his side's outcome and is pushing for a positive result when the in-form Gunners make the short trip from North to West London.

"This is more than a game of football now. The next eight games govern our futures," he told the club's official website.

"We're as desperate for the points as they are - for totally different reasons obviously.

"But there are livelihoods on the line here. People's careers are on the line. I'm not sure that's the case at Arsenal to be honest."
