QPR are rivaling Liverpool for Newcastle United striker Demba Ba.

The Sunday Express says the Newcastle board will stand firm over the latest contract negotiations, even if it means losing the striker who has struck eight Premier League goals so far in a disappointing season for the club.

Liverpool are keen to add Ba's firepower to their depleted attacking armoury, while new QPR boss Harry Redknapp considered taking him to White Hart Lane when he was in charge at Tottenham.
