QPR striker Charlie Austin has welcomed the signing of Rio Ferdinand. The veteran defender joined QPR this week after being released from Manchester United.
"His experience is second to none, in the Premier League, in the Champions League and he has played for his country," said the QPR striker. "That experience will definitely help us. From what I hear, he is great with the young lads so he can only help us this season.
"These are exciting times at QPR and hopefully we can go on to secure our Premier League status next season. The manager has set our targets for this season and we have to work hard to make sure we achieve them. Rio has joined a club on the up."
