QPR and Crystal Palace are among the clubs showing interest in Middlesbrough defender George Friend.

Sky Sports is of the belief that the R's and Palace will compete for the services of the 26-year old who is also a target for Championship club Reading.

Friend, who can be deployed at left-back or as a central defender, is entering the final 12 months of his Boro contract and is yet to agree a new deal which has alerted the aforementioned clubs.
