Rio Ferdinand doubts whether Championship QPR can bounce back from relegation at the first attempt.

Rangers are looking to make an immediate return to the Premier League but Ferdinand does not expect his former club to challenge for promotion this season.

"The best they can hope for is to consolidate in the Championship and then push the season after," he said. "It will be a hard season for them.

"They are going to lose Charlie Austin and Leroy Fer and they have already lost Steven Caulker. So there is a lot to do for them."
