QPR midfielder Kranjcar unhappy with pay-cut revelation

Niko Kranjcar is unhappy it's been revealed he's taken a big pay-cut to sign for QPR.

According to Harry Redknapp, he took a 66 per cent drop in wages to rejoin QPR on loan for another season.

"I did not really want that to become public knowledge," Kranjcar, whose contract with Dynamo Kiev runs until the end of next season, told the London Evening Standard. "I know Harry said it in an honest way to show what kind of guy I am, but I do not feel comfortable talking about it.

"It was evident that Dynamo Kiev wanted to offload me. Things did not work out there, for whatever reason. If I had spent another season out of focus, it would only have been downhill from there. I had an up-and-down season in the Championship last season and I did not have any other offers this summer.

"That situation would not have changed if I had stayed at Kiev and not played this season. I had to seriously ask myself whether I wanted to continue playing football. I owed it to myself. Money will come and go, but I am 30 now and I wanted an opportunity to prove to myself that I can still do it in the Premier League."
