QPR launching bid for Villa keeper Given

QPR boss Mark Hughes is launching a bid for Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given.

The Sun says Sparky, who had Given at Manchester City, wants to replace last season's No 1 Paddy Kenny and believes the Irishman will bolster the Rangers' defence.

And he is set to launch a £3million bid for Given today - even though the keeper is away with Ireland at Euro 2012.

Given, 36, is believed to have become disillusioned at Villa and would welcome the chance to move on.
