QPR join queue Celtic in pursuit of Newcastle's Forster

QPR will battle Celtic to sign Fraser Forster from Newcastle United according to Record Sport.

The 24-year old goalkeeper is set to depart Sports Direct Arena after being sent to Celtic on loan for the past two seasons with the Hoops keen to sign him permanently.

But the R's have now entered the race with Mark Hughes prepared to pay the £2million Newcastle have asked for as he seeks a replacement for Paddy Kenny who is set to join Leeds United.

However, Forster's agent Mark Curtis is in talks with Celtic and has indicated that perhaps Forster could be on his way back to the Scottish champions.

"I'll be speaking to Celtic this week. Of course I'm hopeful something will happen but these things always take a while," Curtis said.

"I had a conversation with (manager) Neil Lennon on the phone last week and I'll be speaking to (chief executive) Peter Lawwell this week.

"Will Fraser be a Celtic player next season? I'm hopeful things will progress in the right direction.

"He's keen to stay at Celtic. That's why we're talking, if he wasn't keen, there wouldn't be any talks."
