QPR have joined the battle for Real Madrid midfielder Sergio Canales.
The People says Canales has been told that he can leave the Bernabeu for a year as he does not figure immediately in Jose Mourinho's plans.
QPR have asked for Canales on a temporary basis, with a top agent speaking to Real officials in an attempt to broker the surprise transfer.
Canales has also been chased by Aston Villa, with Alex McLeish poised to fly out to meet him, while Everton have a long-term interest but need their resources for other areas of David Moyes' team.
The deal would be a dream for QPR, whose owners would only have to pay his wages.
