With already promoted QPR awaiting the outcome of an FA hearing regarding the transfer of the Argentinean midfielder Alejandro Faurlin, which could result in a points deduction, the Football League have decided the npower Championship play-offs will go ahead as planned. As things stand Rangers, who are five points clear at the top, will be presented with the npower Championship trophy after Saturday's clash with Leeds at Loftus Road.
But the Football League may have to put a contingency plan in place to take the trophy to second-placed Norwich, who would go up as champions if QPR are docked enough points.
Cardiff and Swansea, one of whom will finish third, will also be closely watching developments.
However, Rangers boss Neil Warnock is relaxed about the situation, insisting: "I want the fans to enjoy the party on Saturday."
Faurlin himself arrived at Wembley on Thursday morning to give evidence to the independent regulatory commission on what is supposed to the final day of the hearing.
