QPR moved to sack Mark Hughes after Chelsea's dismissal of Roberto di Matteo, it has been revealed.
The Daily Star Sunday says the Hoops originally planned to leave Sparky in charge for yesterday's match at Manchester United and were going to make a decision on his future this week.
If the decision was to sack him, the Rangers board had two targets in mind to replace the Welshman - Rafa Benitez and Harry Redknapp.
But when ex-Liverpool boss Benitez was installed at Chelsea following the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo, QPR's owners were concerned they could also miss out on Redknapp.
