QPR defender Onuoha: Austin still has some work to do...

QPR defender Nedum Onuoha says teammate Charlie Austin still has some work to do to crack the England squad.

Onuoha has seen former team-mates Daniel Sturridge (Manchester City and England Under-21) and Danny Welbeck (England Under-21) progress to become regulars for the senior side.

He feels Austin can eventually join them, but has urged for patience while he continues to improve in the Premier League.

He told the London Evening Standard: "Only time will tell if Charlie plays for England. I played with Sturridge and Welbeck earlier in my career and they were exceptional.

"I don't think Charlie is up there with them just yet, but that doesn't mean he couldn't be in the future. We will see how he progresses, he needs a bit of time. If it comes, no-one will dispute that he's earned it."
