QPR's Italian adviser Gianni Di Marzio has cooled talk of a move for Inter Milan defender Marco Materazzi.
The R's are also being linked with AC Milan fullback Massimo Oddo.
But former Napoli coach Di Marzio told Calciomercatonews: "To my knowledge Materazzi is not interesting the club, nor does Oddo. The players are very expensive in terms of contracts for our club.
"Flavio Briatore also wants to build a team capable of staying up next season and will focus on players who know the Premier League."
