QPR chasing Man City midfielder De Jong

QPR boss Mark Hughes is chasing Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong.

The Daily Mirror says Hughes is on alert as City boss Roberto Mancini is planning on bolstering his squad with further reinforcements, pushing De Jong down the pecking order.

He has appeared 135 times for the Manchester club, but only 21 times in their Barclays Premier League winning season and often was benched in favour of Yaya Toure and Gareth Barry.

De Jong's contract expires in the summer of 2013, but if Hughes has his way the bruiser will be playing against City at Loftus Road in the coming season, rather than for them.
