QPR are interested in Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong.
The Guardian says City manager Roberto Mancini has lost the trust he once had in De Jong.
But with Yaya Touré away for the African Nations Cup, the Premier League leaders are expected to repel QPR's attempts to sign the Dutchman on loan until the end of the season.
