QPR chairman Fernandes: Things different if we'd signed Spurs pair Dawson, Parker

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes admits failing in a double raid on Tottenham last summer was a major reason for their relegation.

Fernandes says they tried for Spurs defender Michael Dawson and midfielder Scott Parker at the start of the season.

He told the Daily Mail: "It's pretty clear that we missed someone in the midfield. We missed Joey Barton. The team was better with Joey in it last year. We missed a real leader. We tried to get Michael Dawson, we tried to get Scott Parker."
