QPR chairman Tony Fernandes is reluctant to make any predictions for the new season.
The Malaysian businessman still predicts a bright future lies ahead but stopped short of setting specific targets.
"I am not one for predictions but you're in sport to win," he said. "No-one likes coming second and we want to be a good club. We want to win.
"But these things take time and I am the last person who is going to make predictions as I have the least involvement in it.
"I can put the infrastructure in place and put the right people in so it's now up to Mark.
"We're as ambitious as anyone but I think it is silly to make predictions.
"We will just do our best and try to give Mark the best facilities and best players and we'll take it one step at a time."
