QPR captain Barton: I'm to blame... but so are Hull players!

QPR captain Joey Barton has quickly shifted the blame to Hull City's players for his ridiculous dismissal in Saturday's defeat.

Barton was sent off for striking Tom Huddlestone below the belt after Darnell Furlong's late lunge on Nikica Jelavic frayed tempers in the 32nd minute.

"Really, senior pros shouldn't be running over asking for (Furlong) to be sent off," said Barton. "It's not out of control, it's not a dangerous tackle.

"All right, we both want to win the game, there's a lot on the line for both teams.

"I'm in a tough position to say this but you've got to have a bit more about you.

"If the boot was on the other foot, I wouldn't be screaming for a 19-year-old kid from Hull to be sent off.

"If it was a bad tackle, fair enough but I certainly wouldn't be screaming and running, what did Alex Bruce run?

"He's run 40 yards to not only get in the ref's face and scream for a red card but he barged me in the process.

"There's no excuses, my reaction is my reaction.

"As a 32-year-old with a few hundred Premier League appearances, someone who's been captain of the club for a while, with a very public profile, I should know a lot better."
