The Football Association have banned QPR's Joey Barton for 12 matches.
The R's skipper was shown a straight red card in the final match of the season for elbowing Manchester City's Carlos Tevez in the 55th minute at the Etihad Stadium.
Barton was hit with an immediate four-game ban - as it was his second straight red of the campaign - and fined £75,000 with a further sanction of eight matches for his actions straight after he received the red.
Barton then proceeded to knee Sergio Aguero in the back and attempted to headbutt Vincent Kompany in the aftermath with both incidents bringing about four-game bans each for violent conduct.
"There are rules of conduct that should be adhered to, and such behaviour tarnishes the image of football in this country, particularly as this match was the pinnacle of the domestic season and watched by millions around the globe," read a statement from the regulatory commission.
