QPR boss Warnock to hand Barton captaincy for Newcastle clash

QPR boss Neil Warnock may make Joey Barton captain for his debut tonight against Newcastle United.

The Daily Mail says Warnock and his backroom team have discussed the merits of stripping current skipper Adel Taarabt of the armband and handing it to Barton.

Warnock said: "He's got everything that makes a captain, but I'm not going into that yet. I'll make a decision on whether Joey is going to be captain just before kick-off."
