QPR boss Redknapp: Sunderland gone cold on Julio Cesar

QPR boss Harry Redknapp is surprised there's been no takers for available goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

The Brazilian is up for sale at QPR this month.

"I suppose it doesn't help," said Redknapp when asked whether the stopper's wages were preventing other clubs for going for him. "But he's a Brazilian number one.

"Sunderland showed some interest but I don't know where that's gone. We've heard nothing from them for a couple of weeks.

"I think the other lad they've got in from Arsenal [Vito Mannone] has done well for them.

"It's a strange one, though. He [Cesar] is an outstanding goalkeeper and he will play for Brazil in the World Cup, so he needs to play somewhere.

"He wants to play. He's a good professional. He had more to lose last week at Everton than he had to gain, but he was dead keen to play."
