QPR boss Harry Redknapp insists Premier League managers are dead against preseason overseas tours.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp insists Premier League managers are dead against preseason overseas tours.

Redknapp wrote in The Sun: "Looking at the pre-season fixtures of our top clubs it is as if the World Cup is 2013, not next year.

"South Africa, Australia, Thailand, Japan, USA..

"The list goes on in a truly globetrotting summer that is supposed to prepare the players for a gruelling season and the build-up to the biggest football tournament on Earth.

"Ask any manager of the top four clubs on the quiet where they would like to go on a pre-season tour, and you can bet your bottom dollar, yen or Krugerrand that it wouldn’t be to any of these far-flung venues.

"Once upon a time the idea of pre-season was to get the players back from holiday and train them up to be fit again in time for the big kick-off."
