QPR boss Harry Redknapp has explained why he froze out Everton winger Steven Pienaar while in charge of Tottenham.

Pienaar had his revenge in Saturday's win at Goodison Park.

Redknapp said: "Steven couldn't get in the team because of Luca Modric and Gareth Bale - they're not bad players.

"He plays in off the left as do Bale and Modric, and he played in AC Milan that night when we won 1-0 away, but he was struggling to get games."
