QPR boss Harry Redknapp was delighted with two-goal Jay Bothroyd after victory at Southampton.

Bothroyd struck twice on a rare start.

Redknapp said: "I thought Bothroyd did all right. I took a chance with him. Bothroyd has shown good character.

"He had a loan spell, didn't get in the team, has come back. worked hard and I have put him in the squad. He is 6ft 5in, holds the ball up, wins headers, is big and strong, does not get bullied. I thought he did all of that - I was really pleased."
