QPR boss Redknapp: Bent, yes. Cole, not yet

QPR boss Harry Redknapp admits he's keen on Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, though is yet to move for Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole.

Cole and Bent have both previously played under Redknapp and their futures at Liverpool and Aston Villa respectively have been the subject of conjecture.

Redknapp is a confirmed admirer of the duo, but he has hinted QPR will not spend big in the transfer window if they do not appear to have a realistic chance of staying in the Premier League.

"Darren Bent's a good player. They paid 20-odd million for him but I'm not even looking at January," said Redknapp.

"I've always liked Joe. I signed him for West Ham at 11 years old so no-one knows more about him than me.

"I still think he's got talent and there's a top player there, but I've made no enquiry about Joe. I've had no contact with his agent or anyone."
