QPR boss Mark Hughes insists there's no deal with Marseille for Joey Barton.

Reports have linked Barton with a loan switch to Marseille, with Cameroon defender Stephane Mbia coming the other way.

Hughes revealed: "There's been communication and interest shown but there's been no option presented to us in terms of financial situation or player swap."

He added: "Joey wasn't going to be in my 25 so he needed to look at his options. He could come back here and train but not with the full squad.

"So ideally it would be better if he found a loan situation. They may want a 12-month. We'll look at everything and pick what's best."
