QPR boss Hughes fancies Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela

QPR boss Mark Hughes has made an enquiry about powerful South Africa striker Katlego Mphela.

The 27-year-old marksman has earned the nickname Killer because of his finishing ability, having netted 40 times in 76 appearances for Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mphela has played for his country 31 times, scoring 15 goals, including this one - arguably the goal of the tournament at the 2009 Confederations Cup in the third-place play-off against Spain.

He is currently the top scorer in his country's League with nine goals for the season.

Mphela's adviser, Glyn Binkin, said: "There has been an enquiry made, but I can't comment further than that."
