QPR have been told they will be given the Championship trophy today.
Rangers are at the centre of an independent FA inquiry over the transfer of midfielder Alejandro Faurlin from Argentine club Instituto in 2009.
But there was still no decision last night by the inquiry into alleged breaches of third-party ownership rules.
Rangers deny all seven charges against them.
The Hoops face the ridiculous prospect of celebrating then having to return the cup if they are found guilty and docked points.
A spokesman said: "The Football League can confirm it intends to present the npower Championship trophy to Queens Park Rangers at the conclusion of the fixture with Leeds United, in line with custom and practice.
"This decision will only be reviewed if the verdict of the ongoing FA tribunal affects standings in the Championship table before that time."
