Qatari group pondering Newcastle purchase

Qatari investors are believed to be interested in buying Newcastle United to develop their global football network.

A group of companies from the Middle Eastern nation, linked closely with the Qatar Foundation, are looking to get into Premier League ownership and have put Newcastle at the top of their list according to the Daily Mail.

Toon owner Mike Ashley, who has tipped in more than £300million to the club, may be prepared to sell despite taking the club off the market a couple of years ago but will more than likely take no less than £200m.
