Former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol supports Gerard Pique over his gestures during the derby at Espanyol earlier this month.

Pique created controversy with his goal celebration for a late equaliser in the draw.

Puyol said, "I was not there, but in other games he and his family have been insulted and I think he was still moderate in what he did.

"It is not easy to support what Gerard does, we look at what he says, but nothing happens with what they say to him."

Puyol added: "Barca are doing an extraordinary season, there is a very good group and a coach that has adapted very well."
