French pundit Pierre Menes has taken aim at Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

Menes believes Giroud's goalless World Cup must put his place in the final in doubt.

He said, "I want to talk about his sense of sacrifice, his altruism, his fighting spirit and his defensive play. Very good, but have I just quoted one of the first qualities that are asked of a center-forward? No. I just mentioned the qualities of a defensive midfielder or a central defender.

"As much as he had been very useful in stretching the Uruguayan central defence, he was static against Belgium's.

"That's five games and zero goals for Giroud. Who will obviously be in the final."
