Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis could find plenty of positives from their unfortunate defeat at Manchester City.
Pulis has challenged his resurgent Londoners to continue their progress in 2014.
"We've done well, and it was important we got a certain amount of points before the turn of the year," said the Welshman, who took charge in late November. "That's all I can ask for.
"We've done that and now we have an opportunity to bring some players in and strengthen the squad. Let's give it a good blast in the second half of the season.
"We got beat at Chelsea by the odd goal and were disappointed not to take anything from that, and we won at Villa, as well as all the positives against City. So we've gone away already and done well, but what we need to do is turn these odd-goal defeats into draws or even victories."
