Pulis expects deadline signings to lift Stoke quality

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis expects his deadline day signings to lift the quality of his squad.

Pulis clinched permanent deals for former Barcelona and Chelsea forward Eidur Gudjohnsen and Portsmouth utility player Marc Wilson.

He also brought in Real Zaragoza's former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant on loan and re-signed midfielder Salif Diao on a two-year deal.

Pulis said: "If they work as hard as the rest of the players do, with that little bit of extra quality they have, you hope it will make us a better team."
