Puel on brink of Southampton history, but...

Southampton boss Claude Puel has shrugged off being on the brink of making history.

Saints will equal their 94-year club record of seven clean sheets in a row if they force Burnley to draw a blank at St Mary's tomorrow.

Puel said: “I would prefer to lose the record and win the game.

“It is an interesting record and it shows that we are strong with good solidarity but the most important thing is to win the game. It is important to concentrate and not let any chances go against us. It is a good spirit and good attitude of my players.

“If we can score two or three goals it will be fantastic, just as it would be good to take the game by one or two goals.

“All I want is to start a hard month with a lot of games in it with a good result."
