Puel: Leicester can dream of the title again

Leicester City boss Claude Puel insists they can again challenge for the Premier League title.

Speaking with L'Equipe, Puel said he is trying to evolve City's approach from their trademark counter-attacking style but warned against changing too much too soon.

“This club has seen the best: win the Premier League to everyone's surprise," he said.

“It was beautiful and it created a lot of ambition, everyone hopes that the club can relive this kind of emotion, one day.

“The will is to move forward and continue to grow.

“If you think you have to be champions coming to Leicester, it's better not to come.

“We'll see where we come from. My goal is to offer other solutions to the team.

“Leicester was champion with a live game, a game of counter-attacks; but the opponents adapt quickly and you can quickly be tactically defeated against other teams. To me to bring other answers. The path is long.

“In Southampton, I had a pre-season, friendlies and whole weeks to evolve the game. I could be more directive. Here, in Leicester, it's different, I have to accompany the players, preserve their confidence, not ruffle their habits and their achievements.

“We must not heckle them too much, we must not want to change everything in a very short period of time.

“So I emphasise the quality of the controls, the passes, the sequences, the availability around the ball carrier, the simple things that were not necessarily in a game focused on the counter-attack and the game direct."
